Dottore Dottore

Today after class Tristan mentioned that a friend of his was presenting her thesis today and we had the opportunity to go. (She was a TA at Wake last year.) I was thrilled because Italians have such a different education system and graduation traditions.
Elise had to present her thesis to a board of professors and answer questions and defend her thesis. After she receieved her doctorate (in english, italian and spanish!) her mom gave her a laurel wreath to wear and after much picture taking we departed for Campo Santa Margarita (local bars). Every few seconds someone would sing "Dottore Dottore" and everyone would join in "Dottore Dottore Dottore del buso del cul vaffancu, vaffancu, vaffancu" and she was dressed up in a combination angel/devil outfit and given a bottle of wine.
We got to a bar and had drink and for me it was just a great chance to meet some Italians...unfortunatly it ended all to soon...they all lived about an hour away and for the first time in weeks it had to rain
Still an experience most people wouldn't get!
