Day trip

This weekend has been a lot of fun. Thursday night we stayed in and watched a movie (The Count of Monte Cristo) on our projection screen. Then Friday we got up at about 5:30 and went to Ravenna. Ravenna is a small city about 3 hours away by train. I went with Bobby, Jenny, Brad and Tristan. We got to Ravenna around 11:30 maybe and we were all hungry because we had been up for so long. Of course no place was open for lunch yet so we walked around until almost exactly noon so we could get some food as soon as the restaurants opened. We ended going to a buffet type place that was reasonable and had good food. Then we walked around and bought a pass to see 6 of the major sites in Ravenna. The major sites are all churchs that we had just gone over a few days earlier in our Art History course. It was really nice to be able to see many of the things our professor had shown us in person. Otherwise it would have only been on slides and they cannot convey the colors, details and intensity of some of these mosaics.

After traversing the city to see all six sites we walked back to the train station only to find out we had just missed a train and the next one wouldn't leave for another 3 hours. Not to worry, we went shopping. I didn't get anything, but i kind of wished i had because every thing was on sale and much more reasonably priced than Venice is. After killing time we headed back to Venice. We got in at about 10 to 10:30 and were all looking forward to a nice warm shower (it had been a wet, cold day). Instead some American girls heard us speaking english and asked were the best nightlife in venice was. So we ended up taking them to Campo Santa Margharita where we (and all other venetian college students) go. I knew that if i went back to shower there was no way i was going to make it back out. So instead I just hung out until about 1 or so when I finally collapsed in bed.

Today has been kind of a lazy day. I went to Bar di Gino with Jenny and Mallory and ended up talking right through until lunch. We got panini and chatted some more. After that we went to Billa and did some grocery shopping. I'm hoping to make another pasta dish tonight...hope it turns out well!

Now i've just been chatting with some people and trying to figure out a few trips...which is one of the more stressful things i've had to do. I literally get kickout of the house in 2 1/2 weeks for about 10 days but have no where to go yet...a lot of ideas and suggestions but i really need to get my act together. It's just hard to get everyone together.

Tonight I think we're going to go over to Piazza San Marco. Apparently they're turning out all of the lights and the stars are supposed to be amazing...we'll see, i still think too many other lights will be on to see too much more than usual.

Tomorrow we may go to the Dolomites and go ice skating or something, but that's not 100% confirmed yet...I really hope we go because it sounds like fun.
